I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant because so many friends recommended it, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. The service was extremely poor. We never even knew who our server was. One person took our order, another delivered our drinks and food, and a completely different person brought us the check. After our food was delivered, nobody came back to ask how everything was or if we needed anything. We wanted another round of drinks, but we actually had to get up and look for someone to take our order. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, so there really wasn’t an excuse for the lack of attention. The food was just as disappointing. I ordered the “tender” skirt steak cooked medium, but what I received was an overcooked piece of meat that honestly looked boiled. It was greasy, lacked flavor, and was far from tender. My son’s kids’ steak was the same—overcooked and poor quality. To make matters worse, when the check arrived, a 20% gratuity had already been added even though we were only two adults and one child. That left a bad impression. It felt like there was little incentive to provide good service when such a generous tip was automatically

My wife and I went to Valenca this evening to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and may I say, it definitely was a great experience. The staff were friendly and attentive. The chicken empanadas were flavorful especially with the mild- spicy sauce. My wife had the Rib Eye Steak which was cooked perfectly. I had the Fried Red Snapper which was also cooked perfectly and if I could I would have it three times a week. Oh, I forgot to mention, you must try the Peach Sangria. OMG, you will definitely fall in love with everything on the menu. We will definitely be back to try something different. Keep up the amazing work. 😊❤️🍾🕺

Great food, friendly wait staff. Excellent cocktail, wine and drink selection. A little pricey but worth it. A fun dining experience.

I’ve been coming here for years with my family whenever I go back to Elizabeth, New Jersey, and it always feels like home. Without a doubt, Valença is one of my top three favorite restaurants and hands down the best Portuguese spot. The food is always consistent, with the same amazing flavor I’ve enjoyed for years. That kind of quality is hard to find. Beyond the food, the staff and service are always friendly, welcoming, and make every visit even better. It’s a great place to bring friends and family, whether for a casual dinner or a special occasion. Totally recommended!

Most recently I’ve order the classic, chicken fries and rice - I’m used to getting them from a local bbq place in Newark and so just the fact that it wasn’t served in the usual aluminum tray threw me off a bit - made me feel as if the portions are likely smaller. It was okay, not the best chicken friend and rice I’ve ever had but it’ll do, Most recently, I tried their “Portuguese inspired ” flavor pizzas ( the Valenca pizza and the Portuguesa ) both were good - the Valenca pizza is half a calzone and that was my favorite part, second was the Portuguesa pizza and last was the other half of the Valenca pizza, which was chouriça pizza.
